Cadillac Deval's paux pas du jour

by: Ted K's Liver

Tue Mar 06, 2007 at 10:50:30 AM EST

(Veterans vs. Banking - Priorities are becomeing clear! - promoted by Peter Porcupine)

Pick one. Today's could be his endoresment( a clear conflict of interest) of the sleaze bag 'loan sharks" "Ameriquest" "Pawn shop" he worked for ( that somehow got "downplayed" by the liberal media) OR would you prefer his "booting out the door" of the Secretary of Veteran's Affairs from the cabinet position he held under the previous Governor?....but then again, as much as liberals profess to "support the troops", if we look beneath the thin veneer of "tell'em what they wanna hear" I think we find that the liberals , in  general, despise all things military. This appears to be yet another slap in the face of the thousands of Massachusetts veterans ( I'm one of them) that this Governor doesn't feel are important or worthy enough to have a representative as a cabinet member.. Can you imagine we've got four more agonizing years of this loser ahead of us?
God help us.

Opps ,, how about "Faux Pas " ... never could spell anywaqy (0.00 / 0)

Tom Kelley is a PRINCE! (0.00 / 0)
He is a decorated Veteran, awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.  He has worked tirelessly with the Federal government to get our vets - of all eras - the pensions and benefits to which they are entitled, and has kept the Chelsea Soldiers Home from having Walter-Reed like crises.  He has helped EVERY legislator who chooses to provide service to their constituents with information and expediting, without regard to party or seniority.  Everything you would want in a state official.

And how has the Patrick Administration repaid him?  First, they tried to rip off his job for Rep. Verga.  When the Veterans Agents across Mass. protested too much, that plan was dropped.  So, Deval is just demoting him instead.

And - it will make not one whit of difference to Tom Kelley, who will continue his work unabated.  Which says a great deal about him, and about Deval.

Quick Question (0.00 / 0)
Are they actually getting rid of the cabinet level position all together?

The thing with Ameriquest is just gross.  Even his supporters are completely at a loss to defend it.  Because you can't - it's indefensible.

According to the Glob - and the Herald (0.00 / 0)
What I find odd is that Patrick spokespeople say it was never a law, and yet Romney signed special legislation to elevate Veterans Services in 2003.  Special legislation is STILL a law!

To be clear - the OFFICE will not be eliminated, and Tom Kelley will keep his job - for now - but status as a Cabinet member, with weekly access to the Governor, will be eliminated.
