Two Out of Three is a Start....

by: Peter Porcupine

( - promoted by Patrick)

So.  The Cadillac DeValle will be paid for partly by Governor Patrick.  His excuse that the old Crown Vic that Mitt Romney drove 'has 80,000 miles on it and the heater doesn't work!' merely increased my respect for Mitt's frugality, if it's true.  Now, the $595 per month difference in the leases will be paid by Gov. Patrick - hopefully from his own pocket, and not from his campaign account.

Also, he will reimburse the Commonwealth $27,000 that he spent on office furniture.  Again, hopefully not from the campaign account.

What perhaps SHOULD be paid from the campaign account is after the break...

Peter Porcupine :: Two Out of Three is a Start....
...the scheduler for Mrs. Patrick at $72,000 per year - that is two Cadillacs, and that doesn't even take into account the health care and pension attached!

Diane Patrick has given no indication that she plans to leave her practice at Ropes & Gray.  Her obligation to the Comonwealth is at best a part time one.  Why then a full time Chief of Staff?

To put this into perspective, a Chief of Staff for a Legislative Committee, responsible for arranging all hearings, vetting all bills, arranign notification for testimony, providing the Chair with research and analysis - this responsible postion is paid less than $40,000.  Yet Diane Patrick needs somebody paid twice as much to verify her speaking engagement with the Urban League.

Perhaps the Chief of Staff position, given to his chief fundraiser, is something that he should use the campaign account to pay. Together we can...figure out how to have the style so wanted without soaking the taxpayers for it.

This morning's Globe says Patrick spent $10,000 on designer drapes.

Damn.

80,000 mles boo ho (0.00 / 0)
Damn 80,000 miles.  If I had stayed in Lowell and commuted to
Boston everyday my car would have had 80,000 miles on it a year ago, and it would have only been 2 years old. Does that mean I should have gotten rid of it.  This guy doesn't come from the real world.  He's been living in Taj Devals for too long, and can't even fathom what it's like to be normal folk.

Accountability (0.00 / 1)
I'm still trying to figure out exactly what it means to be a rEPUBLICAN nowadays & I'm very confused. Maybe U can help.
Since you can count on 2 hands the rEPUBLICANS who are offended by the BILLIONS, BILLIONS,BILLIONS & BILLIONS of dollars wasted & thrown into corporate coffers by the bUSH Government I'm left to wonder just what it is about the Deval Patrick situation that really bothers you .
I know you must be busy now with graduation approaching so just 1 more question if ya don't mind-How many of the class of 2007 (gop)will be enlisting in the military to fight for the principals they say they believe in.

about your second point (5.00 / 1)
The military is overwhelmingly Republican.  If you look at the recent poll conducted by the Military Times you will see that:

While Bush fared well overall, his political party didn't. In the three previous polls, nearly 60 percent of the respondents identified themselves as Republicans, which is about double the population as a whole. But in this year's poll, only 46 percent of the military respondents said they were Republicans. However, there was not a big gain in those identifying themselves as Democrats - a figure that consistently hovers around 16 percent. The big gain came among people who said they were independents.

While the numbers of self identified Republicans fell, as should be expected, the number of self identified Democrats remains consistently low.  And if you look at the poll data you will find that only 9% identify their political views as being liberal in some way.

Why should any of this be surprising?  Liberals fall all over themselves trying to out do one another when it comes to denigrating the military, and the Democratic Party is the party of liberalism.

wasn't it the wife's million dollar estimated salary that finally convinced people that Deval could barely swing the mortgages on his mansions?  Boy she'd better not leave her job!
