As many of you are likely aware, we are playing strong defense to stop the Roe Act Infanticide Bill. In all the calls to stop this Planned Parenthood-sponsored infanticide bill, you may not be aware that conservative legislators are also on the offense. One of the the bills we’re advocating for is up for a hearing before the Judiciary committee today.
Picking up where former Rep. Jim Lyons left off, Reps. Joe McKenna and David Decoste filed legislation again this session to defund Planned Parenthood (HB 1181 and 1389). Rep. Decoste has also filed legislation, HB 1389 to defund any non-profit or its affiliates if they sell baby body parts in violation of state laws, which is having its hearing today. This bill would prohibit any state funds from going to any nonprofit that violates Massachusetts law that prohibits the sale of baby body parts—such as Planned Parenthood. Rep. McKenna’s bill, HB 1181, simply prohibits any state funds from going to Planned Parenthood Federation of America or any of its affiliates.
While a larger battle to defund Planned Parenthood wages in Congress, we also need to let legislators know they can act to take away their state dollars as well, by asking them to support these bills.
Many abortions are funded through our state Medicaid program. On average, Massachusetts taxpayers pay $1.6 million a year to Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts through our state Medicaid program. That’s approximately 3,270 abortions a year. Furthermore, there is video recorded evidence that Planned Parenthood is selling baby body from those 3,270 abortions, violating state law.
Help us go on the offensive. Spread the word by asking your legislator to support these bills.
