The contemporary inane glorification of a highly dangerous and menacing predator, the Great White Shark, by some environmental extremists, fanatical animal rights activists, narrowly focused scientists, and pandering bureaucrats, as some sort of demi-god is a dangerous practice.
Moreover, coupled with the utter lack of concern or action by the same aforementioned parties regarding the Cape Cod seal overpopulation problem makes for a political and bureaucratic quagmire that borders on insanity.
Efforts are currently underway at the grassroots level to address these interconnected problems.
If the bureaucratic elite, as well as many of our elected public officials lack the intestinal fortitude to properly address these issues, then “we the people” will address the matters despite them.
To begin, a Cape-wide citizens petition drive is presently underway in each of the respective 15 municipalities of the area. Additionally, a possible County-sponsored regional study of the problems is being explored as well
This is only the beginning.
One way or another, people are going to prevail relative to the menacing great white shark problem, and the corresponding seal overpopulation problem on Cape Cod.
The voters, taxpayers, residents of and visitors to Cape Cod have my solemn promise on this.
