A year ago the Bathroom-Locker Room Law went into effect and many of the predicted results have begun to occur. On Christmas Eve of 2016, barely three months after it took effect, a man entered a women’s room in a TJ Maxx store, and remained there for over a half an hour taking pictures of women.
When a woman complained, the store employees took no action for fear of a lawsuit for violating the man’s right to be in the women’s bathroom.
Dozens of similar incidents are listed on the KeepMASafe.org website, supporting the repeal of the law at the ballot box next year. Click here to read them.
While a referendum on this law is on the ballot for 2018, you can take steps to stop it right now!
Representative Colleen Garry (D – Dracut) and Representative Jim Lyons (R – Andover) have filed bills to get rid of the Bathroom-Locker Room Law. Representative Garry’s bill, HB 2281, would restrict an anatomical boy or man from using the girl’s locker room or women’s room, or from participating in girls sports or therapeutic activities. Representative Lyon’s bill, HB 2321, would simply repeal the Bathroom-Locker Room Law in its entirety.
Earlier this year, Global News reported that a women’s shelter kicked out two biological women who complained about a man, claiming to be a woman, being allowed to stay the shelter. Incidents involving shelters have happened in Boston and are spreading to other communities.
