Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

It’s been a busy week for conservative and pro-life advocacy on Beacon Hill, as we also paused to celebrate our nation’s birth, including our Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. We want to take a minute to thank all of donors who helped us meet our 2nd quarter fundraising goal last week, as well as legislators like Rep. Marc Lombardo and Rep. Jim Lyons who helped us make the pitch. We also want to thank the many pro-life activists who joined us at our press conference late last week announcing our participation in the upcoming signature drive for a Constitutional Amendment to Stop Taxpayer Funded Abortions. We’re excited to be a part of this effort, and we’ll have signature papers for you to circulate in early September. If you haven’t signed up yet to help us, please do so here.

You can read some of the press coverage of our announcement here:

And you can view the photo album, and even video of our announcement. Please like the Stop Taxpayer Funded Abortion page, share it, and also share the photos, video, and especially the sign up link.

In the state senate last week, Senator Ryan Fattman (R-Sutton) successfully fought to have language included in the Senate Pregnant Workers Bill extending its protections to women who need accommodations from their employers due to impacts on their babies’ health during their pregnancies.

Sen. Fattman gave a great speech about complications related to his wife Stephanie’s pregnancy with their daughter, Hadley, and a difficult medical situation they faced. Earlier the House had ruled a similar amendment out of order, and we’re glad this bill will now ensure that employers cannot ignore the needs of a baby during pregnancy.

Next week will be a busy one as well, with pro-life legislation before the Judiciary Committee to prohibit partial birth abortion, and to support the administration of anesthesia during an abortion. Click to encourage legislators to support these bills, both filed by Rep. Betty Poirier.

There’s also a hearing before the Public Health committee on legislation that would lower the age of consent for abortion, and add additional loopholes within our parental consent laws. This is a very dangerous bill, and we encourage you to click to email your legislators in opposition to it.

Our legislature has of course, scheduled the hearings at the same time:

Joint Committee on the Judiciary Hearing
Tuesday, July 11 at 1:00 pm
Room A-1

Joint Committee on Public Health Hearing
Tuesday, July 11 at 1:00 pm
Room A-2

If you’re able to attend and testify on Tuesday, please let us know, but also make sure you click on the links to let your legislators know you care about life.

Thanks for all of your work to build a more conservative Beacon Hill, on issues from life, to immigration, to safety and privacy, to fiscal responsibility.
