Coalition staff and representatives of our ballot question to Stop Taxpayer Funded Abortion have spoken to hundreds of people at pro-life events. From Holyoke to Fitchburg to Worcester and Boston, we’ve been inviting pro-life activists to join our cause.
In 1981, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled that our government must pay for abortions. We think the legislature should be able to re-direct our tax dollars so we’re not paying for abortions, and we’re prepared to go to the ballot box to advance that ideal.
The first step begins in August when we will need volunteers from across the state to help collect over raw 100,000 signatures in order to obtain enough certified signatures to advance to the next stage of the process. This is no small task—to collect this many signatures will take an army of a thousand volunteers, and we’re excited to announce we’ve recruited over one hundred people so far to help with this effort.
Whether you have participated in other signature drives or this is your first, we will provide training and assistance leading up to and throughout this process. We need to make sure we have volunteers who can gather signatures at churches, enough people to cover events, and volunteers to fill shifts manning tables at town dumps and super markets.
This effort will not be easy, but by signing up and volunteering you are helping us begin the important process of ending public funding of abortion in Massachusetts.
