Budget Update: 24 Hours to Act on Amendments

It’s a busy week.  The budget debate is underway at the State House, there are upcoming hearings, and we are holding a fundraiser on Sunday.

  • In just three short days, legislators will deal with over 1,200 amendments, on everything from taxes to parental rights. Thank you to all who attended the Lyons/Lombardo press conference on MassHealth this morning. It is not too late to email your legislators to support MassHealth Reforms. Be sure to watch and share the video of the press conference.

  • With potentially two more days of votes, there’s still time to email your legislators in support of Justina’s Law. Ask that they support reforms that will end medical kidnappings. Find more details on the legislation page of the our website.
  • Rep. Marc Lombardo has filed legislation that will increase the fines that employers pay for hiring illegal workers under the table, and is seeking individuals willing to testify in support at a hearing on Tuesday, May 2nd. The bill (HB 1024) will be heard by the Labor and Workforce Development Committee at 1:00 pm in Room B-2. Please email us if you are interested in testifying.
  • The Keep MA Safe Fundraiser to Repeal the Bathroom and Locker Room Law is this Sunday at 2:30 pm in Newton. If you’re able to attend, please donate here to RSVP. Even if you cannot attend, we appreciate your support to raise funds to repeal the bill.

Stay tuned for further updates and check us out on Facebook as well for more detailed updates in the days ahead.
