Our local press chimes in on the Planned Parenthood videos:
Some news outlets seemed dismissive of the troubling questions raised by the Planned Parenthood sting by focusing on the group that produced the videos or covering it as a political dispute. Is the press dodging a difficult issue?
I don’t necessarily disagree with much of what was said, however, contrast the great concern for objectivity and journalistic ethics show above with the below video on the gay marriage ruling and the coverage of that issue.
At one point, the media stopped covering same-sex marriage as a debate with two sides and more as a moral issue and an inevitability. To what degree does the media play a role in spurring social change?
