MCFL PAC endorses Mark Fisher

Today the Massachusetts Citizens for Life PAC endorsed Mark Fisher, calling him the most pro-life candidate in the race.

For Immediate Release

Statement by Madeline McComish, Chairman, MCFL State PAC, June 19, 2014, Boston

“Today the MCFL State PAC announces its endorsement of Mark Fisher in his quest for Governor.

“MCFL PAC believes that all voters who are concerned with the right to life and with the protection of those on the edges of life should vote for Mark Fisher because he will support vital pro-life public policies.

“Mark Fisher is a strong supporter of pro-life measures, including A Woman’s Right to Know, a Massachusetts Partial-Birth Abortion Ban, a ban on sex-selection abortions, and the licensing of abortion facilities in the state.  He opposes tax funding of abortion and doctor-prescribed suicide.

“This endorsement reflects Mark’s commitment to strengthening a culture of life throughout the Commonwealth.  We look forward to working with him to protect the most vulnerable members of the human family.

“In the Republican Primary, Mark is opposed by Charlie Baker, who favors tax funding of abortion and opposes A Woman’s Right to Know.  All of the Democratic contenders for Governor take positions strongly in favor of abortion.”

Unlike 2010 when MCFL endorsed the pro-choice Tim Cahill, this endorsement makes sense.  It will help Fisher with name recognition, but probably won’t be enough to make a serious dent in Charlie Baker’s commanding lead.

With being against partial birth abortion, and for parental notification, Baker is pro-choice, not pro-abortion.  When the general election comes around, that is a significant difference.

  • “Baker is pro-choice, not pro-abortion”

I don’t see the distinction.  Abortion is as abortion does.  Being pro-abortion up to some dubious point at which one becomes anti-abortion….is still “pro-abortion.”

  • Joshua Norman

is the only pro-life candidate running.  Mark Fisher stands with the unborn child, because EVERY SINGLE INSTANCE OF ABORTION IS TRAGIC!

I don’t know why so many so-called social issues conservatives  were willing to support the pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage Charlie Baker against Mark Fisher.  The most notable one was Chanel Prunier.

According to Bostn Magazine, Chanel “really cares about gays and fetuses”.  http://www.bostonmagazine.com/

Yet when given a choice to support a pro-life, pro-family candidate like Fisher against a pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage candidate like Baker, she backed Baker.

who supports reproductive rights considers themselves pro-abortion. That’s why we describe ourselves as pro-choice.

However trying to rationalize away Baker’s pro-choice position by declaring he is not pro-abortion is just plain silly. I doubt those who are pro-life will buy that rationalization in any way, shape or form.

  • MCFL could have sat this out, but instead they gave a full-throated endorsement.

While I wish MCFL were a more effective organization, they DO have a large email list, especially in relation to the GOP primary voter universe.

I still think Fisher will get smoked, but doubling or tripling your vote with one endorsement isn’t to shabby.
