Progressive Republican John S. McCain (R-AZ) told the Boston Herald he is hoping for a major scandal so he can pass restrictions on your constitutional rights. No, really he did…
Lawmakers who led a landmark push cracking down on the corrupting influence of big money in elections are now waving the white flag, telling the Herald they’re helpless to stop the spread of secretive super PACs without a major criminal scandal.
“It’s very frustrating,” former U.S. Rep. Martin T. Meehan, lead proponent of the 2002 campaign finance reform law, said in an interview with Boston Herald Radio. “I don’t see any end in sight … but for a major scandal.”
U.S. Sen. John McCain, whose name is still synonymous with the McCain-Feingold law limiting contributions to campaigns, was nearly as pessimistic, telling the Herald: “We’ll have to wait for a scandal. There’ll be one. I promise.”
Just like his fellow progressive Rahm Emmanuel, McCain won’t let a crisis go to waste. Never mind that the reason we have First Amendment protections on speech are to protect us from politicians like McCain who want to stop people from talking about them.

And then there’s Chancellor Meehan – who is actually a great steward of my alma mater, but an awful congressman. Meehan weighed in. You may not remember this flashback from 2002 but Meehan was not that great on his own campaign finances. He took money from tobacco companies when he was leading efforts to regulate them, and watered down his regulations because of it.
The left and their progressive Republican enablers will stop at nothing when it comes to taking away your rights.
