It’s 6:45 on Wednesday April 9, 2014, and Red Mass Group has heard from multiple sources that amendments to the FY2015 budget have been filed. Those same sources have also confirmed that they are able to see the amendments electronically using the LAWS system, an internal legislative system.
Why then at this time are those amendments being kept from the public? A screenshot taken mere moments ago shows that the amendments are not yet available on the budget page of the legislature.
The amendments are normally available rather quickly. With only a little more than 48 hours for legislators to submit amendments it is imperative that the public be able to see what the legislature is doing.
Chairman Dempsey, where are the amendments?
