This weekend the Northeast Region of the Republican National Committee held the Northeast Republican Leadership Conference. During the conference, one of the first straw polls of the NH 2016 Primary season was held.
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) narrowly beat Governor Chris Christy (R-NJ) by two percentage points, 15%-13%. The interesting thing is the straw poll was not announced prior to the event, that means Paul didn’t stack the room.
There was a three way tie for third place between former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), Dr. Ben Carson (R-MD), and Governor Scott Walker (R-WI).
Rounding out the field were:
Governor Bobby Jindal (R-LA) – 9%
Fmr. Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) – 8%
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX)
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL)
Amb. John Bolton
