MassDOT is warning that traffic on the Turnpike will be at a crawl this weekend. Why, they are shutting down all but one lane in the Pru Tunnel. The Boston Globe has the story.
Planning to drive in Boston this weekend? Avoid the Massachusetts Turnpike.
That is the advice from state transportation officials. They say lanes will be closed and traffic will be redirected around the Turnpike this weekend as work begins on a construction project in the Prudential Tunnel.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, lane restrictions will be implemented on both the eastbound and westbound sides of the Turnpike. From 3 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, traffic in both directions will be reduced to one lane, said transportation officials.
Leave early if you are trying to get to the convention. The doors open at 7:00 AM.
