The informal session of the House of Representatives was again shut down today. You can read more about the background in this RMG post from last Friday.
Here’s what happened today:
After the Pledge was said, the chair asked for a committee report; Rep. Shaunna O’Connell (R-Taunton) then asked for access to the “can” in which copies of reports and legislated to be voted on are placed during the session. When the chair ruled her request out of order, Rep. Marc Lombardo (R-Billerica) rose to note the absence of a quorum. Since only a dozen or so members were present, the chair was forced to agree, and the session ended without any business being conducted.
The next session will occur at 11 am on Thursday morning. Please let Reps. O’Connell and Lombardo know that you stand behind their fight for transparency, and encourage other pro-transparency representatives to stand with them!
