Aren’t all business expenditures taxed?

When a company buys display cases, storage shelves, cash registers, computer systems, and virtually everything else it buys, it is subjected to the state sales tax. Yet somehow, in spite of everything they buy being taxed, they survive and the economy chugs along. Please tell me why a company’s website or their inventory control system should be one of the only expenditures that is not subject to sales tax?
