SHNS: Baker Likely to Run

The Boston Herald has a State House News Service brief stating that Charlie Baker is likely ready to announce a 2014 Gubernatorial campaign.  The Herald story says:

Republican Charlie Baker, the GOP’s 2010 nominee for governor, is expected to announce his decision on whether to run again in 2014 within the next two weeks, according to a Republican source who indicated Baker is likely to enter the race.

Baker, the former chief executive of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, lost to Gov. Deval Patrick in 2010. Whether former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown wanted to run for governor has been a factor in Baker’s decision process, but the GOP source said that question appears to have been “figured out” at this point.

Baker appeared on Boston Public Radio Tuesday afternoon, and when asked the question about running for governor he said, “The Bakers know they need to make a decision by Labor Day. That’s our plan.”

Baker has been making the rounds of Republican town committees and events.  He’s sounded like a candidate the few times I’ve seen him.  I am not privy to Baker’s plans, but he sure sounds like a candidate.  If he’s not, he’s been wasting a lot of precious time…
