The Boston Herald claims to have found Cararlie Baker’s campaign office.
The not-so-big-secret is out: Republican Charlie Baker is planning to announce his gubernatorial bid in days and already has a secret campaign lair uncovered by the Herald Truth Squad – with a great view of the State House and space for his running mate.
Baker appears to be planning an announcement at his home in Swampscott next week, according to sources, and is already bringing on staffers, two of whom escorted Herald reporters out of the likely campaign office yesterday after the Truth Squad found it in Brighton.
The Herald’s discovery was an inauspicious campaign debut for Baker, who lost to Gov. Deval Patrick in 2010 but now is the GOP’s only hope for taking back the Corner Office in 2014.
Baker’s future headquarters, tucked away in a fifth floor of an office building on Commonwealth Avenue, has offices marked for the candidate, campaign manager, communications director, a “data cave” and one simply labeled “LG Office?”
