Hey Brock and Ed

I was hoping for your support for a Natural Marriage and Reproduction Act, a simple federal law that will end same-sex marriage and preserve natural conception rights. The law would prohibit attempting to create a human being by any method other than joining a man and a woman’s unmodified genes, and would affirm the effect of marriage as approving and allowing the couple to reproduce together using their own genes. It would also prohibit Civil Unions for same-sex couples that give the rights of marriage.

It is basically the first two laws of my old proposal for a “Egg and Sperm Civil Union Compromise” but I took out the compromise part, because you guys and many others said you could not support Civil Unions for same-sex couples.

I was hoping that responding to your concerns would result in you coming on board and supporting the parts that you said you support. Certainly you must support these other two laws, right? The only reason to oppose the first part is if you think we should let labs create human beings that are not the natural union of a man and a woman, such as genetically engineered children and children created from two parents of the same sex.  And the only reason to oppose the second part is if you think states should be allowed to prohibit marriages from having natural offspring together, if they have bad genes or are unfit or something. In other words, only eugenicists and transhumanists could oppose these laws.

They are urgently needed, people are being harmed and resources are being wasted. It’s not about this current Senate race,  these laws are needed regardless of who we support. But they won’t be enacted unless people stop being afraid to support laws against same-sex procreation and genetic engineering.
