Gomez Letter to Governor Patrick, End of Campaign?

(Worthy of discussion.  Mr. Gomez told Janet Wu he supported the “Navy Guy” in 2008, but told Governor Patrick he supported Obama.

I’ve met Gabriel, he seems like a genuine guy.  Wants to help his country sincerely.  Will he however be able to square the two statements?  Time will tell. – promoted by Rob “EaBo Clipper” Eno)

We had all heard that Gabriel Gomez had asked Governor Patrick to consider him for the position of interim Senator to hold the seat vacated by Secretary Kerry until the special election can choose Kerry’s successor.  I had not given it much thought other than thinking it was an odd request, a Republican asking a partisan Democrat like Governor Patrick for a Senate seat.

Well, now the letter that Gomez sent to Governor Patrick has been released and, in my opinion, it casts a new light on Gomez’ campaign.

The letter is here. http://c.o0bg.com/rw/Boston/20…

Some select tidbits follow:

I supported President Obama in 2008.

That statement differs from his statement on the campaign trail where he has said that the donation to Obama was a favor to a friend and he supported McCain.

Two main issues that will dominate the political discussion during this appointment will be Immigration Reform and Gun Control.  ….  I support the positions that President Obama has taken on these issues and you can be assured I will keep my word and work on these issues as I have promised.

Completely supports the President here as well.

I am disappointed by the approach Mr. Gomez took in his letter and believe that it spells the end of his campaign.

What do you think?
