The Bible according to Jay Carney and Barack Obama….

Yesterday, shortly after President Barack Obama scoffed at the Republican led House effort to reaffirm the phrase “In God We Trust” as our country’s motto he decided to speak on behalf of God Almighty.  This quote from here sums it up nicely:

The president rebuked the House of Representatives for passing a bill reaffirming the US motto “In God We Trust” rather than getting to work on his stalled $447 billion jobs program.

“That’s not putting people back to work. I trust in God, but God wants to see us help ourselves by putting people back to work,” the president said.

So Obama wants Republicans to stop ‘affirming our trust in God’ and start using him as an advocate for higher taxes and more government spending?  Buit if we don’t trust God, then why should we listen if He wants Obama’s jobs bill passed?  And I thought only rednecks on the right were supposed to cling to their guns and God?  I am really confused…

When asked for clarification later in the day as to who God really would support and why WH SPOX Jay Carney said the Bible spells it out clearly:

“I believe that the phrase from the Bible is ‘the Lord helps those who help themselves,'” Carney said.

The only problem is that the phrase he mentions is not in the Bible.  If Jay Carney was just going to wing it with imaginary quotes from the Bible he should have said something more profound.  He should have tried going for the whole enchilada and said “And on the eighth day God created the top 1% and He saith it is bad and should be taxed at a higher rate” or maybe “Love thy neighbor, except for the hedge fund manager whoeth can go to hell“.

Oddly, Obama failed to mention in his public lambaste of Republicans that there is currently before the Democrat led Senate 19 jobs creating bills waiting to be signed.  Those 19 jobs creating bills can be found here on Eric cantors website.  Yet Harry Reid (Remember Harry?) has NOT and WILL NOT allow any of them to come to a vote in his Senate.  This is the same Do-Nothing Democrat led Senate that has not passed a budget in over 900 days!

Obama wants to sound diplomatic, nonpartisan and willing to cross the aisle.  But when the folks from across the aisle pass him their 19 jobs creating opportunities he ignores them completely.
