(Boston, MA) – To create a second majority-minority district in Lawrence, House Democrats have crafted new districts that will leave freshmen Republicans Paul Adams (R-Andover) and James Lyons (R-Andover) in the same House district, according to House Minority Leader Brad Jones.  Prior to the official unveiling of Redistricting Committee’s proposed maps, Jones said the “tradeoff” would be placement of freshman Rep. Paul Mark (D-Hancock)  and freshman Rep. Gailanne Carridi (D-North Adams) in the same House district.  Rep. William “Smitty” Pignatelli said his expanded district would consume portions of the district that Mark now represents, including the town of Richmond where Gov. Deval Patrick has a second home, and would be the largest district in the Massachusetts House.
