Franklin Center urges New York Times inquiry over bogus natural gas reporting

Since we use natural gas to meet roughly 54 percent of our electricity demand here in Massachusetts, this letter from the Franklin Center to New York Times Standards Editor Phillip Corbett concerning Ian Urbina’s biased and founded reporting on hydraulic fracturing and shale gas is well worth the read.

The Center states, “The letter points out that a litany of Times’ standards were violated by Urbina, including failure to ‘distinguish conscientiously between high-level and lower level executives or officials’ and a prohibition against dissembling about sources.”
