In addition, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court has requested that Gov. Patrick stop filling judgeships, and stated that every new judge will lead to three layoffs, minimum. As to “economic impact” and closure of businesses, lack of transportation and its impact on parole and probation, and even access to justice – no apparent studies have been done by either the Courts, or Beacon Hill in cutting court funding.Again, who will speak for access to justice?

Why are film credits [just for example] more important than court houses, or for that matter, indigent defense?  “Saving money” by hiring 400 state employees and forcing layoffs and business closures in the private sector in areas that can ill afford the destruction of small businesses – such as North Adams or Framingham – makes no sense at all.And Chairman O’Flaherty seems to believe “its personal” – see this quote from the Globe:  http://www.boston.com/news/loc… Statement from Chief Justice Ireland is here:  http://www.mass.gov/courts/joi…
