By Associated Press
Saturday, November 27, 2010 – The Massachusetts Senate Republican Caucus has announced that state Sen. Bruce Tarr of Gloucester will be the next minority leader of the Massachusetts State Senate.
The announcement Saturday means Tarr will succeed Senator Richard Tisei of Wakefield when the Senate reorganizes for the new session in January.
Tisei is leaving his seat after an unsuccessfully run as gubernatorial candidate Charles Baker’s running mate.
The 46-year-old Tarr currently serves as the Senate’s assistant minority leader.
The Gloucester High School and Suffolk University Law School graduate was first elected to the Senate in 1994. He has served in numerous leadership positions including assistant minority whip, minority whip and assistant minority leader.
