It starts at a local town level-upcoming town elections

Carver is having its local town elections, next Saturday, April 24th. The signs are everywhere of who is running for town office, selectmen, treasurer etc. How do I know who I am voting for, if it is not listed of their political affiliation?  I as a voter, want to make sure, that I am not voting for some long term politician, who feels they own carver and want to overtax us to death.  I want to be informed of who is running in my town and to be sure I am not voting in progressives who like to tax and spend? Does anyone else have this issue when their town elections come up? Do they know if they are voting for a democrat, independent or republican? We have to make changes, in our own towns and work our way up, our votes do count!
