(This is probably the only interesting statewide GOP primary. Mary Z. is clearly the front runner but Kamal Jain is a legit candidate and will make a run for it. Both great candidates. – promoted by Garrett Quinn)
Nobody doesn’t like Mary Z. Front runner Mary Z. Connaughton is exactly what Republicans look for in a candidate for office. She has been an outspoken advocate, a constant professional, and holds a resume that fits the office she’s running for. Her own website perhaps describes her best.
Mary Z. Connaughton, CPA, is a professional auditor who believes that government should work for the people. As a member of the Turnpike Authority board of directors, where she served from 2005 to 2009, she was an outspoken advocate for greater efficiency, transparency and accountability. She also served on the Massachusetts Commission on Judicial Conduct, which investigates complaints of judicial misconduct and recommends disciplinary action if warranted.
I have included her video from St. Patrick’s Day in Boston below the fold.

Former Libertarian Kamal Jain is doing exactly what so many of us have called for; running in a Republican primary. Kamal has supported openness and transparency in government and worked as a “Tea Party” activist before being a Tea Party activist was cool. He brings 20 years of private sector experience in business and technology to the table. As Kamal continues to campaign in Republican circles activists have been impressed and his following has grown.
I have included his speech at the “Audit the Fed” rally in Boston from November, 2009 below the fold.

MORE AND POLL BELOW THE FOLD….
I am legitimately torn on this race and want to help both Mary and Kamal. It’s refreshing to be able to choose between the greater of two goods instead of the lesser of two evils. It’s too bad only one of them can win.
