Scott Brown Won 27 State Senate Districts! (Big Majority Possible?)

(Don’t just think about running, RUN! – promoted by Paul “Cool Cal” Ferro)

I know its old news by now, but after collecting the precinct data from all but three cities: Attleboro, Melrose and Revere (Who want me to drive across the state to their city halls for the data), I was finally able to put the numbers together and determine the results of January’s Special Election through each State Senate District. While it has been known for months that Brown won, and won big in many areas, its important to realize that Brown’s victories across the state can point to areas of vulnerability in future elections.

In the end, Brown won 27 Districts, winning 9 District with over 60% of the Vote. Coakley by contrast won 13 Districts, of which 8 gave her 60% or better results, showing that the Democrats strength is highly concentrated in a few places.

To calculate the results in districts including Attleboro, Melrose and Revere, I was forced to do the old splitting method, which could have just been easily done for the remaining split cities/towns.

However, in many cases, such as in Boston, Worcester, Springfield, the actual breakdown had a big effect on the results of the State Senate districts in those cities.

Here are the results, and a little bit about each district.
