Middlesex, Suffolk and Essex State Senate seat

The deadline for filing nomination signatures for the Middlesex, Suffolk and Essex State Senate seat (the one recently vacated by Anthony Galluccio) is coming up on March 2 with the Primary in April and the election in May:

300 valid nominating signatures due with local city and town officials – March 2, 2010

Primary Election – April 13, 2010

Special Election – May 11, 2010

There are currently 7 Democratic candidates competing for this seat. Will there be a Republican candidate for this seat? I sincerely hope so.

It has not been challenged by a Republican since 1990!

In fact, Barrios and Galluccio never faced a Republican in their entire political careers!

The last time a Republican ran for this seat, then State Senator Tom Birmingham destroyed Arthur Lindstrom (R-Chelsea) by a 73% – 27% margin.

So I wouldn’t hold my breathe for a challenge of this one.

    BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT!
