Today Republican State Representative Richard Ross will announce that he will run for the open State Senate seat vacated by United States Senator Scott Brown (R – MA).
Richard Ross is in his 3rd term representing the 9th Norfolk formerly held by Scott Brown. If he were to run for the Senate he would bring in the towns of Millis, Plainville, Norfolk and Wrentham for a total of 10 precincts out of 51. His 2009 year end report with OCPF shows $14,205.41 cash on hand and no outstanding liabilities. In 2008, Richard Ross defeated unenrolled challenger Thomas Roache by a 61% to 39% margin. The Norfolk, Bristol & Middlesex State Senate district includes “Franklin, precincts 2 to 4, inclusive, Millis, Needham, Norfolk, Plainville, Wellesley, precincts B, F and G, and Wrentham, in the county of Norfolk; Attleboro, wards 1 and 2, ward 3, precinct A, and North Attleborough, in the county of Bristol; and Natick, precincts 6, 7, 9 and 10, Sherborn and Wayland, in the county of Middlesex.” In 2008, Scott Brown defeated Democrat challenger Sara Orozco by a 59% to 41% margin.
