Charity Bartending Makes for Interesting Bipartisanship

While I bipartisan effort, I especially want to thank my friends, Bristol County Sheriff Tom Hodgson & Senator Scott Brown for participating in the celebrity bartending that occured this weekend in New Bedford in order to raise money for the Salvation Army’s Neediest Family Fund.

About $10,500 was raised to to bartending at the Catwalk Bar & Grille on Saturday & the Sixth Bristol Club on Sunday.

I’m just sorry that I had to work and missed my chance to get a beer or two from our elected officials.

Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson and one of his opponents in next year’s race, Rep. John F. Quinn, D-Dartmouth, were both pouring drinks for the thirsty throng at the Catwalk.

Sen. Mark C.W. Montigny was joined behind the bar at the Catwalk by Sen. Scott Brown, R-Wrentham, who is running for the late Edward M. Kennedy’s Senate seat.

“The only reason I don’t pour beer on him is because I sit beside him in the State House,” Montigny joked.

Brown said he was not intimidated in the least to find himself in a Democratic stronghold such as New Bedford. “I have a lot of support among Democrats,” he said. “In fact I’m having a fundraiser here myself in a couple of weeks.”
