Former Democratic State Representative Philip Travis of Seekonk has endorsed Steven Howitt who is running for the seat which encompasses Norton, Rehoboth, Seekonk, and Swansea. The endorsement was reported by the Sun Chronicle.
Former state Rep. Philip Travis has crossed party lines to endorse Republican Steve Howitt for state representative.
Howitt is running in the Republican primary against David Saad, with the winner facing off against Rep. Steve D’Amico, D-Seekonk. D’Amico won the seat when Travis, a Rehoboth Democrat, retired three years ago.
“When I learned of Steven’s interest in occupying this important seat, I called him immediately to offer my full endorsement and support of his candidacy. I identify with Steven and his fiscally conservative agenda,” Travis said.
“He is going to represent the people as a team player, whether Republican or Democrat, and work for the betterment of the people of the 4th Bristol District.”
The article states the primary in this race. There are more primaries for legislative office on the GOP side than I can remember. This is a good thing for our party.
