I want to thank State Representative Vinny deMacedo for coming down to our annual charity golf tournament to benefit Children’s Hospital Boston. Rep. deMacedo was slated to be our special guest auctioneer as part of our luncheon fundraiser this afternoon. The tournament was this morning at the Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth.
Many of you know that I work as the Community Relations Director for a local Walmart store. Every year our district, which consists of 8 stores from the Rhode Island line to Cape Cod, holds a golf tournament where 100% of the proceeds go to benefit Children’s Hospital Boston. Well, today was the day & despite Mother Nature forcing us to reschedule the actual golfing (yes, it’s bright & sunny right now – go figure!) we went ahead with brunch and the auction.
Last year, the 63 Walmart stores in Massachusetts & New Hampshire raised over $1 million for Children’s Hospital Boston. My own store raised over $48,000 last year. The vast majority of that money came from the great generosity of our customers who donate their spare change for a great cause.
I greatly appreciate Rep. Vinny deMacedo for not only taking the time out of his busy day to help us fundraise for Children’s Hospital Boston but Rep. deMacedo but changing his schedule around to try to accommodate us more fully despite the extremely bad weather for a charity golf tournament.
