According the the Federal Election Commission Republican Bill Hudak has out raised Democrat Congressman John Tierney in the race for Massachusetts 6th Congressional District. During the third quarter of 2009 Bill Hudak raised $153,881 compared to John Tierney’s $153,470.
Massachusetts 6th Congressional district was formerly represented by Peter Torkildsen from 1993 to 1997. It contains most of Essex county and the towns of Bedford, Burlington, North Reading, Reading, Wakefield and Wilmington in Middlesex county.
I contacted the Hudak campaign this morning for his reaction to the news. “I am overwhelmed by the tremendous outpouring of emotional and financial support shown for my Congressional candidacy in our first sixty days.” replied Bill Hudak via email. For the rest of his statement please proceed below the fold.
MORE BELOW THE FOLD….
I am overwhelmed by the tremendous outpouring of emotional and financial support shown for my Congressional candidacy in our first sixty days.
In a very short time, and with 13 months to go before the election, we have risen from the ranks of the politically unknown to THE CLEAR CHOICE the voters of this district have craved for over a decade. Our efforts have been rewarded with financial donations solicited and, more importantly, unsolicited from the four corners of this district, state, and beyond. Already we have matched, or exceeded, the total election cycle fundraising efforts of virtually every other candidate for this seat this century; and we are just now getting started!
I want people of this district, state, and entire nation to know that I will fight, work tirelessly, and selflessly to take back this seat that belongs to them. While we have worked hard early to raise much needed funds, we have also simultaneously taken the important steps of building a huge organization of people and striking directly at the heart of our opponent to gain the recognition we need to ultimately prevail. We are now focusing in earnest to take our campaign and its fundraising efforts to the next level, and fully expect that our successes to date will not only continue, but accelerate all the way to election day.
Our opponent is faltering now and feels us breathing down his neck. We expect him to turn to his political hacks, lobbyists, and cronies in a frantic effort to shore up his defenses. We need your continued help and support, and welcome all of your continued generosity and donations so we can remain on track and one step ahead. Most importantly, I wish to thank all of my supporters, from the bottom of my heart.
Third quarter fundraising totals are still coming in. I plan to do another general post later, but this news I felt this exciting news deserved it’s own attention.
Republican David Michael Sukoff also raised $37,045.
