From the Swampscott Reporter coverage of a recent appearance by prospective GOP gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker. Baker joined CLT’s Barbara Anderson at a dinner last week in Marblehead hosted by the local Republican committee. Baker didn’t make any commitment to joining the race.
Swampscott – Swampscott’s Charlie Baker didn’t indicate he will run for governor — nor say he won’t — during a recent appearance in Marblehead.
The Marblehead Republican Town Committee hosted a June 27 dinner that included speeches and a question-and-answer session with Swampscott’s Charlie Baker, president and CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, and Marblehead’s Barbara Anderson, executive director of Citizens for Limited Taxation.
The event took place at the VFW hall in Marblehead and included spirited speeches by Baker and Anderson, according to the town committee.
Baker spoke of the current healthcare issues facing Massachusetts, as well as fundamental problems with the current Patrick and Obama administrations and their positions on things ranging from taxes to cap and trade.
Baker would energize the GOP but he may not have the luxury of time. 2010 is fast approaching.
