I wish I could demonstrate this post using pennies, but I can’t. Regardless, the Obama administration is pushing legislation through congress that would begin to implement a nationalized healthcare system to get health insurance to the millions without health insurance.
Read about it here: http://www.google.com/hostedne…
Of course, the ‘universal’ health care is not universal. In fact, the proposal being pushed today by Chris Dodd and Ted Kennedy leaves 37 million of the estimated 50 million uninsured people still uninsured. This healthcare legislation comes at a cost of $1,000,000,000,000.00 over the next ten years.
That being said, the math indicates that we would spend a trillion dollars to insure 13 million people. That equates to $7,692 per year/per person insured. That further equates to $641 per month. I hate to say it folks, but $641 per person/per month is not a bargain. In fact it is about 40% higher than rates are currently.
John McCain has asked to postpone the hearings in the Senate until the Obama administration has better numbers, but Obama claims we have a ticking time bomb and can’t wait any longer. Many feel that the Obama administration is grossly underestimating the true cost of the healthcare plan in order to push it through. I can’t imagine a federal healthcare program costing 40 percent more than current rates is worth chasing after.
People are so hooked on the idea of making health insurance a federal program that they are willing to completely overlook the costs involved. That is how we got into the BigDig problem that we can’t dig our way out of now.
This is so typical of the Obama gang. Obama gets up and makes a dramatic speech using his great voice, but giving no details. Then he tries to convince everyone that if we don’t act now the problems will be much worse (a ticking timebomb). This fear mongering has no place in government reform and it certainly has no place in the spending of a trillion dollars.
John McCain complains that Obama has given no details:
“How can we possibly, reasonably address this bill … without accounting how to pay for it?” McCain asked at the start of the committee’s session. McCain said it was “a joke if we run through this stack of papers.”
The irony is that Obama had the same complaint about McCain back in the election.
“McCain has been eager to share some of the details of his healthcare plan, but not all of them”.
Obama also states that “Senator McCain wants to pay for his plan by taxing your healthcare benefits for the first time in history”. Watch the video of Obama here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…
It ends up that Obama wants to do the very things that he faulted John McCain for and now the left is wildly behind it. Obama has witched positions and now endorses taxing your employer paid health care benefits. Read it here: http://voices.washingtonpost.c…
The Obama healthcare plan is a crazy idea for the very simple reason that it comes from a man that who can’t make up his mind about what the plan should be. He has no idea how to pay for it. He has no idea what it will cost. All he knows is that it must happen and it must happen right now. That is the worst kind of government there is……
