(House roll call. It’s time to go on offense vs. these anti taxpayer representatives. – promoted by EaBo Clipper)
After several impassioned pleas about the children the House voted 108-51 to raise the state sales tax to 6.25%. The margin of victory for the takings coalition is significant because it is enough to overturn a veto by Governor Deval Patrick. Earlier in the day Patrick issued a letter indicating he would veto an increase in the state sales tax if it was not accompanied by reforms in state government.
The amendment still needs to pass the Senate.
Once again, the people of Massachusetts are treated like they’re an ATM.
