Boston, Mass. – New Transportation Secretary James Aloisi is planning to sell the 11 service area plazas along the Massachusetts Turnpike, with a potential windfall of $300 million that would enable the state to remove tolls on the western Pike, former board member Christy Mihos said Tuesday….

On the surface this looks like it could be good.  My main concern is if this is used as a 1 year temporary patch without addressing the core problem of government spending.  Simply selling assets doesn’t change the ledger balance, it just changes one asset (the plazas) into another (cash).

What do you think?

They’re not going to take down the tolls I use anyway…the I-84 interchange or the Rte 128 interchange….or anything inside the loop.

Big fat toll hike on every toll I use….and a raise in teh gas tax….that’s what’s coming.
