It looks like Robert Deleo, and his “Deleo Dollars” have carried the day in the race to be the new Speaker of the House up on Beacon Hill.
As a battered Speaker Salvatore F. DiMasi bid his colleagues farewell today, Ways and Means chairman Robert DeLeo moved into position to claim the coveted seat at the helm of the House of Representatives.
DeLeo (D-Winthrop) said he has the votes necessary to climb into the leadership roll after tomorrow’s floor vote, a reality his rival for the seat, House Majority Leader John Rogers, (D-Norwood) confirmed.
“He is the victor and I’m the vanquished,” Rogers said today. “The fight is over and the healing has begun.”
