Caroline W. Kennedy

(I don’t make a habit of promoting liberals here, but I thought people may want to discuss this topic. – promoted by DD4RP)

Is Caroline Kennedy the Democratic George W. Bush?

Both are children of presidents.

Both went off to college at their famous father’s alma mater.

Both held a series of jobs in which their prime qualification was their famous father.

Both never held public office before seeking a top office in a very large state.

Now we find reports that Caroline’s biggest backer, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-Medford) and his chancellor, Joel Klein, are greatly inflating her part-time role in the New York City schools. http://blogs.villagevoice.com/…

Newsday is also reporting that Caroline has a sorry, spotty record when it comes to casting a ballot on election day.

With all that talent in New York State, why would the best candidate be someone with a famous name, a demonstrated disinterest in the basic elements of electoral politics, and no track record on the issues of the day?

About pablo

  • …and a valuable point for liberals and conservatives alike.

But, since I am a conservative, I’ll list some things I find interesting.

    1) The seat she is looking to fill is Hillary Clinton’s, who only got it because of her famous Husband.

    2) We are also hearing about DE putting in a place holder until Joe Biden’s son is ready to assume his rightful throne.

    3) Jesse Jackson Jr. was the “front runner” for Obama’s open seat before the Blago corruption erupted.

    also…

    4) The liberal media establishment isn’t giving her the same venom they gave Governor Palin who was far more qualified.

    5) I didn’t hear this from liberals about Nike Tsongas.  I mention this not to criticize Pablo, who deserves some points for intellectual honesty here.

    6) Her Uncle Ted was equally unqualified when he was became our US Senator for the exact some reason.

Republicans are also not without fault here.  Lincoln Chafee was dumber than a toaster.

The one famous name I do give credit to is Liddy Dole.  She was the former President of the Red Cross and had an impressive resume before she married Bob Dole.

  • Michael Bllomberg is not a registered Republican.  He is an Independent now, and was even a Democrat before he was a Republican.

If the little Princess wants to RUN for election using the family NAME, and the VOTERS are stupid enough to ELECT her, then that’s life.

BUT to think she is entitled to be anointed/appointed out of no where, is just to pathetic…

At least GWB and Hillary RAN for election, if Princess wants to be Senator bad enough, see ya in 2010 sweetheart.

  • The Gov. of New York would do well to watch the Capra classic Mr. Smith goes to Washington and ignore all the political pressures and appoint an ordinary person.  My suggestions:

A construction worker from the Bronx

    A science teacher from Troy

    or

A gril scout leader from Buffalo

If she were applying to be, say, an undersecretary of education in Barack Obama’s new administration, Caroline Kennedy would have to fill out a 63-item confidential questionnaire disclosing potentially embarrassing text messages and diary entries, the immigration status of her household staff, even copies of every résumé she used in the last 10 years.

If she were running for election to the Senate, Ms. Kennedy would have to file a 10-part, publicly available report disclosing her financial assets, credit card debts, mortgages, book deals and the sources of any payments greater than $5,000 in the last three years.

But Ms. Kennedy, who has asked Gov. David A. Paterson to appoint her to succeed Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton – and who helped oversee the vetting process for Mr. Obama’s possible running mates – is declining to provide a variety of basic data, including companies she has a stake in and whether she has ever been charged with a crime…
