Obama Compares America To Nazi Germany

As revealing as the audio from Obama’s interview with Chicago Public Radio was regarding his affection for wealth redistribution, overlooked was his comparison of America to Nazi Germany. At about 15:30, Obama compares what was going on in the United States during the time of Brown vs. the Board of Education to … Nazi Germany.

“…just to take a, sort of a realist perspective…there’s a lot of change going on outside of the Court, um, that, that judges essentially have to take judicial notice of. I mean you’ve got World War II, you’ve got uh, uh, uh, the doctrines of Nazism, that, that we are fighting against, that start looking uncomfortably similar to what we have going on, back here at home.

About Rick

  • leaves me wondering which “doctrines of Nazzism” he’s referring to.

This one?  “We demand that the state be charged first with providing the opportunity for a livelihood and way of life for the citizens.”

This one?  “We demand the total confiscation of all war profits.”

This one?  “We demand the nationalisation of all (previous) associated industries (trusts).”

This one?  “We demand a division of profits of all heavy industries.”

This one?  “We demand an expansion on a large scale of old age welfare.”

This one?  “We demand the creation of a healthy middle class and its conservation, immediate communalization of the great warehouses and their being leased at low cost to small firms, the utmost consideration of all small firms in contracts with the State, county or municipality.”

This one?  “We demand substitution of a German common law in place of the Roman Law serving a materialistic world-order.”

This one?  “The state is to be responsible for a fundamental reconstruction of our whole national education program, to enable every capable and industrious German to obtain higher education and subsequently introduction into leading positions.”

Gee, Senator….some of those are “looking uncomfortably similar to what we have going on, back here at home.”

    What a tool…..

I think you’re missing context in this diary. Obama’s point is that while Americans were fighting against Hitler’s racist regime in WWII, it was also tolerating institutional racism in its own back yard – specifically the kind created & nurtured in the South. The irony of Obama’s observation – whether or not he realized it – is that America’s institutional racism was largely sustained through his own political party (which still hasn’t come to grips with its racist past). It took a combination of events (the birth of the Republican Party, America’s Civil War, Reconstruction, new amendments added to the Constitution, & the Civil Rights movement) to overcome the Democrat Party’s fierce resistance in treating blacks as human beings.
