Or is the common wisdom false that the GOP is much more white than the Dems?

  • Knightbrigade

yapping race…see how well that plays out in November..

that the Dem party is still focussed like a laser on identity politics. Count ’em all up by sex and race and color and give them percentages and labels and make sure every one of the identified interest groups is represented!! Look at how they choose their delegates —  make sure no disabled left-handed tranny is left unrepresented!!

I don’t think Dean’s slip was racist — it was a “see how focussed I am on identity politics” slip.

  • For example, the author of the latest takedown on Obama, Joe Corsi. I have had Republican friends tell me what a “good guy” he is. Huh?

Here are just a few samples of Corsi’s latest thoughts:

“One of the most popular movies right now is Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants: 2, which is being marketed directly to teenage girls. It’s been out about a week and has already grossed almost $25 million dollars. What’s it about? White girls having sex with non-whites. Which is white genocide.” It later adds: “Interracial sex is white genocide.” An August 13 post to Edwards’ blog, headlined “Your chance to hear a real Holocaust survivor,” states: “If you’re anywhere near Alabama, and you want the chance to meet a real hero, mark August 26th on your calendar. That’s the day David Irving, a survivor of the Jewish Holocaust against free speech, will be speaking at the Prattville Holiday Inn.”

“For blacks in the Americas, slavery is the greatest thing that ever happened to them. Unfortunately, it’s the worst thing that ever happened to white Americans.”

“If the WNBA [Women’s National Basketball Association] is so hell bent on diversity, why don’t they hire a couple of heterosexual players or coaches?”

In a June 6 post headlined “Does she hate Whitey?” Edwards wrote: “Michelle Obama, that is. Uh, yeah, I’m pretty sure she does. Just like her husband. Just like about 90% of blacks.”

    Also, according to MediaMatters,

Corsi is reportedly scheduled to appear with host James Edwards on the August 17 edition of The Political Cesspool Radio Show, which, according to its “Statement of Principles,” “represent[s] a philosophy that is pro-White” and which “heartily endorse[s] and accept[s] as our own, the founding tenets of the Council of Conservative Citizens [CCC].” According to a Fall 2007 article in the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Report, ” ‘The Political Cesspool’ in the past two years has become the primary radio nexus of hate in America.” Corsi previously appeared on the July 20 edition of the show, in which he promoted The Obama Nation and criticized Sen. Barack Obama.

My question is: rather than spending so much time pointing out the mote in our brother’s eye, why do we not first remove the log in our own? We make it all too easy for the liberals to justify terms like Dean’s when we willingly harbor and promote raciust scum like Corsi. I know none of us are promoting this creep’s work, but we need to do more–We should be AHEAD of events like these–damning Corsi, decrying him and his work–then we have the credibility to say see, we really are the big tent. Unlike Rush Limbaugh, who actually likes and aplauds this out-and-out racist (and yes, anyone who opposes  interracial marriage is an out-and-out racist). We need to disassociate ourselves from racists, and we need to disassociate ourselves from creepy figures like Limabugh who gives racists a platform from which to spew.

Sorry, I know Rush may have a fan or two left here among the yahoo-wing of the Party, but he has harbored far too many racists for comfort. I’m willing to tolerate a lot of criticism about my ideology,  but I am NOT willing to be lumped in with racists or to have my party called the white people’s party. It is Dean’s job to point out the inconsistencies in our record. It is our job to have the courage of our own convictions and not to allow these inconsistencies to be perpetuated–not by the likes of Corsi, and not in venuyues like Limbaugh’s increasintly appaling, dumb-ass show.

If we are buying Corsi’s book, if we are promoting his work, then Dean’s label–which I’m sure we all personally reject–does fit.

National Black Republican Association- Black Political History: The Untold Story

  • …but why is it considered a bad thing that the Republican Party is seen as a “White” Party?
