Rep Smola Tried To Stop the Santa Earmark

Update:  Rep Smola’s Response to Wavemaker is below. I did note in the post that Smola wasn’t responsible for the earmark.

Thanks for the email. I’m not sure where you got your information from but it is less than accurate. The earmark in the budget for the Santa Train was not put in the budget by me. I authored only two amendments to the budget this year that were regional appropriations that were not earmarked for specific communities. You also asked me in your email “Did you have to vote YES?”. I did not vote yes on the budget. In fact, I was one of the few legislators that voted no on the budget.

Hello everybody, just got back from vacation and settling back into the swing of things.  Thanks to Plymouth99 I saw there is a $10,000 earmark to save Santa Claus in Palmer.  What a waste of money.

Palmer’s State Representative is Todd Smola a Republican.  Fiscal responsibility in the Commonwealth needs to start with us as Republicans and while it is an earmark of Palmer’s democratic State Senator, I think we should call on Rep Smola to denounce the earmark.

You can reach Rep Smola at Rep.ToddSmola@Hou.State.MA.US or 617-722-2240.

There good enough for you Festus?
