Here is basically the same letter that I emailed out to many of my Republican friends throughout Southeastern Mass and a little beyond yesterday morning. Considering I shamelessly plugged this great fundraiser for the kids being treated by the Children’s Hospital Boston, I wanted to share the information with all of you in hopes that well, we can do a fundraiser just once that isn’t political in nature.
As many of you may know, in addition to serving as the MassGOP State Committeeman for the Second Bristol & Plymouth State Senate District and as the Bristol County Coordinator for John McCain, my day job that pays all the bills is working as the Community Relations Director for the Dartmouth Wal-Mart. During this last capacity I have facilitated the raising of over $23,600 in my own store since January 1st to benefit the Children’s Hospital Boston.
Now that summer is upon us, the local Wal-Mart stores in Southeastern Mass have another opportunity to raise money for Children’s Hospital Boston: are hosting a charity golf tournament at the Ballymeade Country Club in East Falmouth with all of the proceeds benefiting CHB! Wal-Mart has been a corporate partner of the Children’s Miracle Network for over 20 years and all we do locally benefits the Children’s Hospital Boston.
I’d like to echo the words of my Market Manager, Kevin Kilker, and ask that you please consider joining us for a great day of fun, caring, and helping children! Even if your like me and do not play golf any contribution or sponsorship would be greatly appreciated. After all, I’ve raised nearly $24,000 within the past 6 months all due entirely to the generosity of our customers and they do it one nickel, one dime, one dollar at a time!
I’m thrilled to announce that we’ve already had some tremendous interest from our fellow Republicans! Not only has Dartmouth Republican Town Committee Vice Chairman Chris Pereira expressed his desire to play a round of golf to help Children’s Hospital Boston but former Congressman & Massachusetts Republican Party Chairman Peter Torkildsen has also expressed his intention to hit a few golf balls around to help us fundraise for the kids! I hope that you will join us and please forward this information to anyone who you think may be interested!

Okay, so I’ve given a few points a little extra emphasis for blogging purposes! 🙂
Here is a copy of a letter that I included in my hardcopy mailing to my fellow Republicans & as an attachment to the original email.
I am writing to you while wearing three hats: Massachusetts Republican State Committee Member, Wal-Mart Associate of nearly 12 years, and Community Relations Director for my particular store (Wal-Mart #2157 in Dartmouth). Here at Wal-Mart we work intimately with the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) in order to raise funds that directly benefit the Children’s Hospital Boston (CHB). Wal-Mart and Children’s Miracle Network have been partners to help children in need for more than 20 years. In fact, 100% of the money that we raise through CMN goes directly to CHB, a hospital that treats thousands of children from throughout our community. Part of my job is to help raise our money for CHB 1 customer and 1 dollar at a time. Last year, my store alone raised over $24,000.00 for the CHB through CMN. My store’s goal for this year is to raise at least $30,000.00. Just consider how many Wal-Mart stores are within Southeastern Massachusetts, much less across the entire Commonwealth! Together, we can help even more children in need at the Children’s Hospital Boston.
I am writing to ask you to help me forge a new partnership. During recent Massachusetts Republican State Committee meetings we have discussed the need to raise our Party’s public image and public awareness through charitable endeavors. Therefore, I implore you to please give serious consideration to participating in the charity golf tournament that is presented in an enclosed letter written by our Wal-Mart Market Manager, Kevin Kilker. Our market covers much of Southeastern Massachusetts. On Wednesday, September 24, I hope that we can gather together as fellow Republicans, perhaps play a round of golf, or test our skills at a putting contest. We could get together with our great Massachusetts Republican Party activists and candidates in order to play a round of golf or to sponsor a hole or two. All sponsors and prominent participants will be publicized both at the event and in the media so I am extending this invitation to every Republican elected official, candidate, and activist from throughout the Commonwealth.
I will be at Ballymeade on Wednesday, September 24, to help the patients of Children’s Hospital Boston and I hope to see you there!
