A Springfield war vet is making some noise in his bid to unseat U.S. Rep. John Olver in November.
Republican Nathan Bech, a former Army intelligence officer who served in Iraq, picked up key endorsements this week from former acting Gov. Jane Swift and state GOP chairman Peter Torkildsen.
Torkildsen, a former congressman, applauded Bech’s military background. In addition to serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, Bech studied Middle Eastern policy in India, Israel and Egypt. He is one of 18 Iraq war vets running for Congress nationwide this year.
“He has the experience we need at a dangerous time,” Torkildsen said.
