Republicans complain of improper use of stationery by state Rep. Joseph Wagner

CHICOPEE – The Massachusetts Republican Party filed a complaint with the State Ethics Commission today alleging that state Rep. Joseph F. Wagner used official state stationery to invite guests to a fund-raising dinner.

Wagner, who is chairman of the House Transportation Committee, denied the allegation, saying the stationery was paid for by his election committee. Barney S. Keller, communications director for the Republican Party, said someone sent the invitation to his party’s office.

“When things like this are brought to our attention, we feel it’s our obligation to call for an investigation,” Keller said.

He added, “While I’m sure the ziti was delicious, this appears to be another example of Beacon Hill Democrats abusing their power.”
