Earl Sholley to challenge Barney Frank (D-MA) in 4th Congressional

SouthCoast Republicans were thrilled to hear that grassroots activist and small businessman Earl Sholley of Norfolk, MA has acquired the necessary signatures to place him on the ballot  against 13-term incumbent, US Representative Barney Frank (D-MA) in the 4th Congressional District.

I had the fortunate opportunity to visit with Mr. Sholley and collect nominating signatures on Sunday in Fairhaven, MA, and was encouraged at the response of the constituents at the Stop & Shop.  Many residents remarked that ‘anybody but Frank’ would be a welcomed change.

Mr. Sholley was advised to acquire his bearings on the fishing industry and its resulting factors and issues before meeting and greeting the citizens of New Bedford.  Mr. Sholley appeared to accept these words of advice readily.

For those looking to assist Mr. Sholley in his bid for the US House of Representatives seat, please feel free to contact the New Bedford Republican Party at newbedfordgop@yahoo.com or visit our district website:  www.semassgop.com

I believe Richard Baker has also acquired the necessary signatures for his run in the 6th district against John Tierney. There is one other candidate who I am aware of, Nathan Bech in the 1st district. He has a website up and running at http://www.nate2008.com and sounds like a very intelligent and qualified candidate. He’s even opened up his HQ already. Does anyone know how his signature gathering is going?

Is there any activity in the other CDs?

..He has good command of the issues and certainly has better policies than Frank. Earl is a landscaper and veteran. Big task taking down “Hot Bottom’s” pimp but deserving of our support.

Conservative Towns like Norfolk, Dover, Millis, Sherborn, Mansfield, etc. get stuck in this district. With Newton, Brookline and the South Coast put in here, this district is about as safe as a District gets in the United States for the Democrats.

The South Coast Senate Seat (which is a 1/4th of the population of the 4th CD) alone voted 62% for O’Brien in 2002(45% Statewide), 72% for Kerry in 2004(62% Statewide), and 66% for Patrick in 2006(55% Statewide)

    Hard odds to overcome.
