(Marlborough is a VERY Republican friendly city! (59% for Romney, 50% for Healy/Mihos) This is probably THE best GOP Pick-up prospect this year! – promoted by Cool Cal)
Here’s another opening, another opportunity to restore two-party state government.
MARLBOROUGH, Mass.-State Rep. Stephen LeDuc has resigned to take a job as assistant clerk magistrate at Marlborough District Court.
more stories like thisThe Marlborough Democrat said in a statement on Tuesday that he does not have a specific date for leaving office. He said he will serve in a dual role for the time being but forgo his legislative salary.
The court job pays more than $85,000 annually.
LeDuc’s resignation opens up the race for state Sen. Pam Resor’s seat. Resor has announced she will not seek re-election and LeDuc was one of three people to take out papers for the seat.
A couple of prospects are mulling it over.
LeDuc’s announcement clouds the election picture for this fall with several people who swore off a Senate run now mulling a race for LeDuc’s House seat.
“I’m strongly exploring the possibility at this point and will be making a decision shortly,” said City Council President Arthur Vigeant, a Republican…
“I’m going to take a long, hard look at this opportunity,” he said yesterday. “In my first time (running for public office) and without an open seat on the council, coming only 100 votes shy is certainly encouraging.”
Marlborough Councilor at-large Patricia Pope, a Republican, said she will only consider running for LeDuc’s seat if Vigeant does not.
“It’s important we put the interests of the city before anyone’s ego,” said Pope. “If Arthur is interested in the seat, I think he would make a fabulous representative for the city.”
Clearly this district is strongly Democratic. Am I wrong? Is there any chance?
