The Pope condemns the climate change prophets of doom…

Read the story here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pag…

The Holy Father called it “scaremongering” and wants the international community to start basing its decisions on science as opposed to the dogma of the environmental movement.

Frankly, I don’t buy into the climate change/global warming crap and enjoy the irony of Al Gore accepting the Nobel prize last week while ten states in the heartland of the United States were literally sitting under an inch of ice.  Of course, no sign of warming is present in the Northeast which is beginning the Christmas season with the heaviest snowfall totals in recent history.

But alas, global climate change is the new religion of the 21st century and one must profess an unquestioned belief that the earth is going to burn in hell if said person wishes to get elected to public office.

Remember the old saying “If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute”?  Well, now that has been turned into the mantra of the liberal left.

    but here is a nice piece about folks that believe the world would be better (cleaner, less poluted) if humankind were not here – and are advocating it to others.  Their method – stop having kids….

    The most interesting part is this quote:

    Lest you think the above are “extremists,” consider how deeply invested the “mainstream” is in a total fiction. At the recent climate jamboree in Bali, the Rev. Al Gore told the assembled faithful: “My own country, the United States, is principally responsible for obstructing progress here.” Really? The American Thinker’s Web site ran the numbers. In the seven years between the signing of Kyoto in 1997 and 2004, here’s what happened:

    •Emissions worldwide increased 18.0 percent;

    •Emissions from countries that signed the treaty increased 21.1 percent;

    •Emissions from nonsigners increased 10.0 percent; and

    •Emissions from the United States increased 6.6 percent.

    It’s hard not to conclude a form of mental illness has gripped the world’s elites. If you’re one of that dwindling band of Westerners who’ll be celebrating the birth of a child, “homeless” or otherwise, next week, make the most of it. A year or two on, and the eco-professors will propose banning Nativity scenes because they set a bad example.

    And yet another great article from the Washington Times regarding – global cooling??

    http://www.washingtontimes.com

    I ask you – are these the signs of global warming?

    Unexpected bitter cold swept the entire Southern Hemisphere in 2007. Johannesburg, South Africa, had the first significant snowfall in 26 years. Australia experienced the coldest June ever. In northeastern Australia, the city of Townsville underwent the longest period of continuously cold weather since 1941. In New Zealand, the weather turned so cold that vineyards were endangered.

    Last January, $1.42 billion worth of California produce was lost to a devastating five-day freeze. Thousands of agricultural employees were thrown out of work. At the supermarket, citrus prices soared. In the wake of the freeze, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger asked President Bush to issue a disaster declaration for affected counties. A few months earlier, Mr. Schwarzenegger had enthusiastically signed the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, a law designed to cool the climate. California Sen. Barbara Boxer continues to push for similar legislation in the U.S. Senate.

    In April, a killing freeze destroyed 95 percent of South Carolina’s peach crop, and 90 percent of North Carolina’s apple harvest. At Charlotte, N.C., a record low temperature of 21 degrees Fahrenheit on April 8 was the coldest ever recorded for April, breaking a record set in 1923. On June 8, Denver recorded a new low of 31 degrees Fahrenheit. Denver’s temperature records extend back to 1872.
