    1 Huckabee

    2 Keyes

    3 Gravel

    4 McCain

Best answer: Tommy Thompson – teachers unions are self serving & self protecting. Revamp credentialing system. School choice.

Fred Thompson – speaks truth to NEA

Mitt & Huck – muddled answers, platitudes, both would continue to allow federal interference.

    Gravell –

Alan Keyes spanks the moderator – Bravo! (a tad over-amped, though)

  • geo999

    Rudy- energy independence

Thompson – military buildup, border security

    Gravell – tanked the question

    Tancredo –

Fred – will have a year long fireside chat.

Mitt – “what they all said”

    Huck – I’m a healer

    McCain – National security

Keyes – End abortion via executive order, seal the borders

Schoolmarmish, asked some really dumb questions

“What is your new years resolution for the other candidates?”

  • geo999

…primarily due to the lousy, lousy moderation.

Perhaps the moderator thought she needed to keep the kids “in line”, perhaps she thought she was the show, but her forced rushing of the answers did not allow the candidates to engage each other or even to contrast themselves.

She didn’t ask questions that would be of great interest to Republican primary voters, which was arrogant, in my view.

I really liked when Fred drop-kicked her over the insipid global warming question.

The winner of this pathetic event was Mitt.

Huckabee was playing it safe, strumming his geetar, trying to be Mr. Charm. And it didn’t work

    Rudy was a no-show.

I can’t believe that this debate ranks below the youtube/retard fest from a couple of weeks back, but it actually does.

*btw, Ron Paul is not Mike Gravell. Brain cramp on my part.

  • …at length, HERE, but the Cliff Notes Version –

THIS is the first debate which actually asked about GOVERNMENT. Not politics, not horseracing, but HOW WOULD YOU GOVERN?

This was actually the most important debate we’ll see until the general.
